Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow
Mark A. Bajada
Mark was the Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow in the group. He studied chemical engineering in Malta and received a PhD in chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK, working on solar fuels under the supervision of Prof. Erwin Reisner. He joined the group in May 2021 for 3 years, and developed single-atom catalysts for photochemical and electrochemical applications.

Alessandra Sivo
Alessandra studied pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Bari and did her MSc thesis on flash chemistry with Prof. Renzo Luisi. She joined the group in May 2020 and obtained her PhD in 2023. She developed continuous-flow catalytic methods for green pharmaceutical synthesis, merging catalysis with microreactor technology.

Vincenzo Ruta
Vincenzo studied pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Bari. He joined the group in January 2021 as a doctoral student and received his PhD in 2024. He designed single-atom catalysts for organic synthesis methods.

Jody Albertazzi
Jody studied chemical engineering and did his PhD at Politecnico di Milano. He joined the group in November 2023 for 1 year, and he applied computational fluid dynamics and reactor modelling to the design of continuous catalytic photoreactors.

Grazia Isa Carla Righetti
Grazia studied chemistry at the University of Milan and received a PhD in industrial chemistry and chemical engineering at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on biomass valorization. She joined the group in April 2023 for 1 year, and worked on biomass valorization.

Xiufang He
Xiufang studied chemical engineering in China and completed her PhD on electrocatalysis at the University of Milan. Her research focuses on operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy. She joined the group for 1 year and worked on the characterization of SACs.

Vitthal B. Saptal
Vitthal was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow. He got his PhD in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai. He then underwent postdoctoral studies in South Korea, China, and Poland. He joined the group in December 2022 to design new single-atom catalysts for organic synthesis.

Theodoros (Theo) A. Gazis
Theo studied chemistry at Heriot-Watt University and did his PhD at the intersections of organic and inorganic synthesis at Cardiff University. He was postdoctoral fellow at Keele University before joining the group as a postdoctoral fellow. His worked focused on designing heterogeneous catalysts for selective synthetic applications.

Viktoriia Velichko
Viktoriia studied chemistry in Russia and completed her PhD jointly at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces and the University of Cagliari. She joined the group as a postdoctoral fellow to design flow processes for the production of fine chemicals.

Luis Cipriano
Luis was the first theoretical chemist in the group. He studied chemical engineering in Mexico and did his PhD in materials science at the University of Milan Bicocca, under the supervision of Prof. Gianfranco Pacchioni. Afterwards, he moved to Copenhagen, where he was postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Jan Rossmeis. He joined the group in February 2024 for two years, to apply theoretical methods to rationalize the structure and reactivity of catalytic processes.

Hushan Chand
Hushan studied technical chemistry and did his PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology. He joined the group in April 2024 and developed single-atom catalysts for thermal organic transformations.
Visiting PhD Candidate
Ziqi Wang
Ziqi studied energy engineering at Chongqin University, and started his PhD at the same university under the guidance of Prof. Zhongqing Yang. He is an expert in solar-driven photocatalysis and photothermal catalytic activation of carbon dioxide. He was a visiting PhD candidate funded by the Chinese government.
